Things my kids have broke since putting up the Christmas Tree

  1. You need to rethink your comment “…AND IT IS NOT MY FAULT”. Given your intellect I think that you will come to the conclusion that it is exactly your fault ..yours and that of the persons in your family who remain passive about their behavior.

As much as this will rankle some sensibilities, kids that age are no different than puppies. They will do what they are permitted to do and will not stop until they receive consistent instructions to the contrary. The consistent application of the word no and then the word no followed by some consequences will alter the behavior.

Children of that age DO NOT understand explanations or logic. Explanations and logic are reserved for when they are older not when they are 2.5 and 4.5. What they need to know is that daddy loves them but when daddy says no he means it and do not test the limits because daddy is going to show them the consequences of their actions.

In fact that lesson – actions and consequences of actions – is something that ,sadly enough, grown adults today don’t accept as applying to themselves.

Go ahead, don't be shy...
