Current Tooth Brushing Routine
My current brushing routine is sporadic at best. Honestly, I always brush my teeth in the morning while taking a shower; however, when nighttime comes, I don’t brush as much as I should. I value oral hygiene but sometimes I am exhausted from a long day and just want to go to sleep. For my toothpaste, I like the clean feel of those that have baking soda in them. In regards to flossing, I floss a couple of times per week after a dentist visit but that tends to taper off as time goes on.
I have always stayed away from power toothbrushes due to the fact that the upper part of my gums itch while I brush. Also, I am fine with a five dollar regular toothbrush and as long as I can remember I have stuck with a regular toothbrush. Since I have not had a cavity for over 5 years or so, I tend to think that I am doing a decent job brushing
I would argue that the current state of my teeth cleanliness is satisfactory but needs improvement. Each time I go into the dentist, I am reminded to brush better and floss more. Upon leaving, I make the commitment to do so but my enthusiasm wanes as time goes on.
Brushing my Kids’ Teeth
With my two children (ages 5 & 2.5), I try to brush their teeth nightly. Sometimes my kids like to brush their teeth and at times they don’t. I find that getting a themed toothbrush works well – e.g. Spiderman or Batman. Our youngest uses toothpaste that doesn’t have fluoride and my oldest likes regular toothpaste.
New Brushing Regimen
On Thursday May 17th, I will begin using the Oral-B ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 5000 with SmartGuide. It is the top of the line power toothbrush and it comes with all the bells and whistles that a power toothbrush can have. In my next blog post, I will post a video detailing my thoughts and reactions and I will give my honest feedback. In addition, I hope to find that using this product will improve my current oral hygiene.
Oral-B is offering a $10 mail-in rebate on select power toothbrushes April 29 through June 16, 2012. For more information please visit oralb.com/, twitter.com/oralb, or facebook.com/oralb for more information.
