Cowards written by Glenn Beck is an interesting book. Glenn does a good job of writing and backing up his ideas and opinions. The book is separated into topics such as: Progressivism, Libertarians, George Soros, Economic Terrorism, The American Dream, The U.S. and Mexican border, The Media, The Police State, Education, Islamist Agenda, Education, Socialists, and technology advances. I actually learned a whole lot of ideas and was blown away by a few of the ideas presented in the book.
A few that intrigued me were ideas such as Singularity – the point where Artificial Intelligence will exponentially grow and where computers will be self-sufficient, Economic Terrorism – massive amounts of money that can be taken in or out of a bank at will (basically a bank run), the way that new media such as blogs, websites are changing news, also, how students should learn the benefits of capitalism.
While I enjoyed most of the book, there were a few places that I had to disagree with him. Basically Glenn says that he is a Libertarian but does not fully support Ron Paul. Granted, he does want him to be head of the Treasury Department. With as much as Ron Paul has done for Libertarianism and making the Austrian school of Economics a valid theory, I would hope that Glenn would wholly support Ron running for President. Second, I have no idea why Glenn almost blindly loves capitalism however turns a blind eye to the consequences of it. For instance, Nike & Apple sweatshops who employ underage and have terrible working conditions.
I guess that biggest thing I will take away from Cowards is to not be a coward…plain and simple.
