David and Goliath written by Malcolm Gladwell gives insight in the events of the epic battle between David and Goliath. It then portrays the advantages and disadvantages into recent events – battle against leukemia, playing a full court press in basketball, the civil rights movement, and the battles between Protestants and Catholics in Ireland. The introduction is great, it left me with the realization that Goliath really had no chance and that the perceived strength of Goliath was really a disadvantage. In addition David was going to fight Goliath not in the way that Goliath was expecting but in his own way. The part in trying to find a cure for leukemia was heartbreaking; children actually bleed to death while doctors couldn’t do anything.
There was a bit of a lull or part when I lost interest but overall the book is good.
The book reads quick and I was left with the realization that there are times when faith and the realization that sometimes Goliath can be defeated, that anything is possible.
