In The Inner Circle, Meltzer describes a archivist who works for the Federal Government in Washington. Beecher is still hurt from a previous relationship which he was dumped because he was boring. His life gets more interesting when his old crush Clementine comes to see him. They find a cryptic message in the archives and then the adventure begins. They end up becoming intertwined in events from the President’s life. We are introduced to Dallas (archivist), Todd (culpa ring), Nico (clementines father who is in jail for attempted murder of the President), and President Wallace (who has skeletons in his closet).
The story is good and the attention to detail is superb. After reading this book, check out Meltzer’s second book in the series – “The Fifth Assassin”
Overall it is a decent thriller.
